The 12th season of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series kicks off in May and promises one of the most complete and exciting trips around the world. In all there are eight stages to complete by November, in a costume that brings many new features – highlighting three new locations. Another differentiating point of the 2020 season is summarized in the word “equality”, as this will be the first time men and women compete side by side with the same number of athletes (8) on the permanent table.
The Azores continue to stand out, once again assuming the role of the greatest classic of the competition. The stage that proposes an unparalleled return to its origins in the unique landscapes of the islet of Vila Franca do Campo, off the island of São Miguel, will take place on September 6 in what will be the ninth consecutive visit to the region.
The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series round the world that will scale four continents kicks off with an absolute debut – Bali, Indonesia. This is followed by a return to La Rochelle (France), Texas (United States) and Polignano a Mare (Italy). To open the second half of the season, another debut – Oslo, Norway. The nature of the Azores and the amazing visit to the old bridge of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) precede the end of the competition, which will have the unprecedented stage of Sydney, Australia.
A squad of 24 athletes from 18 nationalities will fight for the titles defended by legends Gary Hunt (UK) and Rhiannan Iffland (Australia), showing their best heels of 27 and 21 meters respectively.
